PSHE & Global Citizenship
At the British International Programme we take great pride in our pastoral provision and how well our staff look after our students. This is articulated through our policies and procedures and embedded in our curriculum, as well as the day-to-day teachable moments that happen all the time, through the warm relationships built between teachers and children.
BIP follows the guidance for personal, social, and health education given by the UK government that is essential for our students to empower themselves to grow and develop as young people. We deliver our PSHE curriculum through Global Citizenship. This is a taught subject in our curriculum and combines PSHE with International-mindedness as part of our Pearson International Primary Curriculum programme.
This innovative program encourages open discussion and understanding of various topics, including emotional literacy, mental health awareness, and online safety, as well as global awareness. This is delivered through engaging activities and interactive lessons, where students learn to recognise their feelings, build personal qualities, and develop healthy relationships with their peers. The curriculum is designed to create a safe space where children feel comfortable expressing themselves and exploring the importance of wellbeing in their lives.
Safeguarding
BIP is committed to safeguarding and the protection of our children and staff. Safeguarding is a term that describes all that we do as a school to ensure that your child’s physical, emotional and mental well-being is nurtured, covered and protected whilst at school. This includes procedures, staff training and systems for identifying, communicating and addressing child protection concerns.
This is articulated through careful policy and related procedures and systems detailed within. As a school group, we regularly review our policies to build on our strengths and develop, or change procedures in response to current good safeguarding practice and our unique context here in the TRNC.
